You should be using either
LayerMask.GetMask("A", "B")
or
(1 << LayerMask.NameToLayer("A")) | (1<< LayerMask.NameToLayer("B"))
or if you wanna make life easy, just add a public LayerMask field and set in in the inspector
public LayerMask layerMask
