transition as a verb

    Happy New Year to All,

I have a question about the word "transition". Can that word be used as a verb? Just the other day, I heard it used in this context: We transition from one activity to the next. I might have heard it incorrectly because I know quite well that any word with the suffix -tion is a noun. However, is it possible to use it as a verb?

    Your feedback is appreciated.

I've encountered this use of "transition" many times. I wouldn't call it elegant, but it's used often in technical and business writing as well as in other contexts.
